It's almost here - winter break! With the nice temperatures Codington County has had in December, it doesn't feel like the holidays are here. If you're wondering what to do with your kids during winter break, there are several fun options available including activities at the Boys & Girls Club, a new member of Codington Connects.
The Boys & Girls Club of Watertown is an excellent resource for families in the Watertown area. The annual membership fee is just $25 and a New Member Orientation is each Wednesday night at 5:30.
The Boys & Girls Club is open:
- After school from 3:30-6:30 pm
- On (most) no-school days
- In the summer from 7:30 am-6:00 pm.
Meals are provided with the membership fee. During the school year, a snack and supper are provided, and breakfast, lunch, and an afternoon snack are served during all-day programs.
The Main Club site (at 1000 3rd Ave NE) features a games room, education center, art room, gymnasium, teen center, kitchen, and lunchroom. While at the Boys & Girls Club, youth can participate in various activities to enrich the mind, body, and soul.
The Boys & Girls Club offers free homework assistance/educational programs at McKinley, Mellette, Roosevelt Elementary, the Watertown Intermediate, and Watertown Middle Schools.
The month of December is an exciting time at the Boys & Girls Club Main Site! You can try the Club for
FREE during their "December Free Month," where the typical day pass of $2 is waived. Participants in the free month have a chance to win a free 2024 membership. The Club has some special activities planned for the Watertown School District's Winter Break on December 27, 28, and 29.
