Connected in Codington: April Highlights

By Sara Foust, President of Codington Connects

At Codington Connects, we believe strong communities are built through connection, collaboration, and shared purpose. Each month, we will share a brief update to highlight the work happening across our network, celebrate progress, lift up partnerships, and keep our community informed and engaged.

As we wrap up April, I am grateful for the momentum building across Codington County and the many partners who continue to make this work possible. Here is a look at what has been happening and what is ahead.

Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) Training

At the end of March, we hosted ACEs training coordinated by our HEART Team and generously sponsored by Atyeo Consulting. Across three sessions, more than 120 participants joined to deepen our shared understanding of trauma, resilience, and practical tools for supporting children and families.

Thank you to everyone who attended and to the partners who helped make this important work possible.

Childcare Survey and Upcoming Report

Our community childcare survey is now complete, and the report is being finalized by the Child and Family Resource Network in partnership with SDSU.

This analysis will provide a clear, data-informed picture of local needs and opportunities. It will help us better align services, inform planning, and support families across our community.

RESTART Steering Committee Priorities

RESTART recently held its biannual Steering Committee meeting, during which key priorities were identified to guide the next year's work.

We are excited about the focus areas that emerged and look forward to sharing more as this collaborative plan moves into action.

Weekly Radio Spots

We are deeply grateful for the opportunity to connect with the community through weekly radio spots on Northeast Radio.

These conversations help shine a light on the work of Codington Connects and our partners, making it easier for individuals and families to learn about available resources and ways to get involved.

Splash Into Summer

Our planning team has been hard at work preparing for Splash Into Summer on May 28 from 5 to 7 p.m.

It is shaping up to be a fun, welcoming, and informative event for the whole community. We hope you will join us and help spread the word.

Thank you for your continued support and engagement. Together, we are strengthening connections, expanding access, and making a lasting difference for families in Codington County.

With appreciation,
Sara Foust
