Individual of the Month: Hailey Rau, WMS Project SUCCESS Coordinator

Posted: February 23, 2026

Codington Connects is excited to feature Hailey Rau!

Hailey is the WMS Project SUCCESS Coordinator with the Human Service Agency, working in partnership at Watertown Middle School. In her role, she connects directly with students, serving as a trusted and safe adult they can turn to when navigating challenges in their lives.

Hailey is especially passionate about leading PEEPs (Peers Educating and Encouraging Peers), a student-led leadership group where young voices are heard and real issues facing students—both inside and outside of school—are addressed. Since starting in 2023, Hailey has seen incredible growth in the program, expanding participation from 13 students to an average of 80 students each month. She also helped bring the Carnival of Careers to the middle school, connecting students with 36 local businesses and colleges to explore future opportunities in an engaging and hands-on way.

As a Project SUCCESS Coordinator, Hailey sees herself as a bridge to resources. Through screenings and prevention efforts, she helps identify concerns early and connect students and families to the supports they need. Her work helps families feel connected to Codington Connects and strengthens collaboration within the community.

Hailey draws inspiration from many people in her life, including her mom, her husband Justin, her supervisor Kelli Rumpza, and fellow prevention professionals who model dedication and compassion. Most of all, she is inspired by her students, who cheer her on and remind her why her work matters every day.

Outside of work, Hailey enjoys spending time with her animals—two dogs, two cats, two horses, and even a crested gecko. They play an important role in supporting her own mental health and well-being.

Hailey’s commitment to prevention, connection, and student leadership makes a meaningful impact on youth and families in our community. We are grateful for her dedication and the heart she brings to Codington Connects.
