Individual of the Month: Hank Roso

Codington Connects is proud to recognize Hank Roso, President/CEO of Midwest Bible Camp, as our Individual of the Month. Through compassionate leadership, servant-hearted ministry, and a deep commitment to supporting others, Hank continues to make a meaningful impact throughout our community.

A Heart for Serving Others

For Hank, no two days are ever the same — and that’s exactly what he loves most about his work.

“Each day brings many opportunities to serve or minister to others,” he shared. “The needs vary from helping with housing, car repairs, or pastoral guidance and counseling, to just a moment to pray.”

That willingness to meet people where they are and respond with compassion is at the heart of the work Hank does every day. Whether someone needs practical assistance, encouragement, or simply someone willing to listen, Hank approaches each interaction with care and empathy.

Leading with Compassion

When asked what skill he brings to the table at Codington Connects, Hank’s answer was simple but powerful:

“Loving others in need.”

That mindset reflects not only his leadership style, but also the collaborative spirit that helps strengthen organizations and communities throughout Codington County.

Over the years, Hank has noticed a growing need for personal connection and support.

“There seems to be a greater need for people to receive personal care and support,” he explained.

In a fast-paced world, taking time to care for others can make all the difference — and Hank continues to lead by example.

Inspired by Community

Hank credits much of his inspiration to the people around him.

“The incredible staff I work with, and the amazing collaboration within our community,” he shared.

That spirit of collaboration is a key part of what Codington Connects strives to foster — agencies, organizations, and individuals working together to build a stronger system of care for the region.

Looking Ahead

Even with years of experience helping others navigate healing and recovery, Hank still values learning and growth. One new area he hopes to explore is EMDR Therapy, a specialized approach often used in trauma recovery and mental health treatment.

Outside of work, Hank enjoys spending time boating, perennial gardening, and tackling handyman projects. He also dreams of seeing the ministries at Midwest Bible Camp continue to flourish for generations to come.

“For our ministries at Midwest Bible Camp to flourish well past my tenure here,” he said.

Understanding Others

When asked what superpower he would choose, Hank’s answer perfectly reflected his heart for people:

“If I could choose any superpower, it would be the ability to understand people as they wish to be understood.”

That desire to truly understand and care for others is something our community deeply benefits from every day.

Codington Connects is grateful for Hank Roso’s leadership, compassion, and dedication to serving individuals and families across our region.
