At Codington Connects, we love shining a light on the people making a difference in our community. This month, we’re excited to feature Kelli Rumpza a Certified Prevention Specialist with the Human Service Agency. Kelli plays a vital role in overseeing Watertown Healthy Youth, Glacial Lakes SAFE, and the Project SUCCESS school-based prevention program at the Watertown middle and high schools. Her passion for supporting youth and building a healthier, safer community makes her a standout leader in Codington County.
Kelli’s heart is in the connections she makes. “What I love most about my job is the opportunity to build meaningful connections and relationships with incredible organizations and individuals who are deeply committed to the well-being of our youth,” she shares. “This role continually evolves to adapt to the changing needs of young people,” and Kelli meets that challenge with enthusiasm and compassion every step of the way.
When it comes to teamwork, Kelli is all about sharing knowledge and resources. She believes that pooling expertise and tools is key to making an impact, and she’s always ready to collaborate and support the network of professionals and community members involved in Codington Connects.
Kelli draws her inspiration from two powerful sources: the resilience of youth and the unwavering dedication of helping professionals. “The hope of our youth and the passion of dedicated helping professionals and adults who want better lives for our kids inspire me,” she says. “Seeing how kids can adapt to change and how resilient they truly are gives me hope every day."
When she’s not busy making a difference in young lives, Kelli enjoys getting outside and staying active. She loves riding her bike and has recently started dabbling in backyard flower gardening. Cultivating beauty and finding joy in nature are just some of the ways she recharges and finds balance.
Kelli holds a beautiful dream close to her heart: “That humans are genuinely kind to one another and respectful of differences. To respond, not react.” It’s a vision of a kinder, more understanding world—one she works toward every day, both personally and professionally.
Kelli, we appreciate the heart and dedication you bring to everything you do. Your passion for helping youth thrive and your vision for a kinder, more understanding world make a lasting impact in our community.
