This month, Codington Connects is happy to spotlight Maria Gruener, the dedicated and dynamic Library Director at Watertown Regional Library.
Maria brings warmth, curiosity, and a wealth of knowledge to both her role and the wider community. What she enjoys most about her job is the people, especially helping them navigate the library’s many resources and answering the unique and intriguing questions that patrons bring through the doors every day.
Her impact extends beyond the library walls. Maria plays a crucial role in making information and resources accessible, organized, and meaningful for the public. Her ability to connect people with the right tools and knowledge makes her an important asset to our collaborative network.
Maria has witnessed and embraced the evolution of library services throughout her career. Technology has transformed how she works, from the introduction of eBooks to implementing RFID systems for circulation. She's adapted alongside these changes, going from helping people use early desktop computers to guiding them through smartphone apps and iPads.
When she’s not serving the community, Maria enjoys reading, watching Korean dramas, and spending quality time with her nieces. A lover of stories in all forms, she says that outside the essentials, she can't live without entertainment —be it a good book, a film, or her favorite music.
