This month, we are proud to recognize Tiffany Barthel, Coordinator and Court Services Officer with Codington County Treatment Court, as our Individual of the Month! Tiffany plays an essential role in supporting individuals as they work through the Treatment Court program, offering guidance, accountability, and encouragement every step of the way.
When asked what she enjoys most about her work, Tiffany shared, “What I love the most about my job is that I can watch people transform into the best version of themselves that they never thought was possible. As a team, we help give them skills to become who they want to be. Then being able to watch them put the hard work in so they can succeed is so rewarding. It gives them a chance to have their life back.” Her passion for helping others reclaim their lives is seen in everything she does.
Tiffany also brings valuable strengths to Codington Connects. She explained, “I think the most important skill that I can bring to the table at Codington Connects, is communication and collaboration. If no one is talking, nothing can be accomplished. When we are all working toward a goal and have action steps to that goal, we are all successful.” This commitment to teamwork and having shared goals helps strengthen partnerships in our community.
Over the years, Tiffany has seen her role grow and change alongside the people she serves. She noted, “Over the years, my role has evolved to focus on helping people become more honest with themselves. As a Court Services Officer, I often have difficult conversations with individuals who may not want to hear the hard truths. Through the process, many come to realize life becomes manageable when they are honest, with themselves and others.”
Her inspiration comes directly from the individuals in the Treatment Court program. “The individuals who choose to continue every day in our program inspire me. Treatment Court is not easy, and the work we ask them to do takes time and grit. There are alternatives to our program, but those who choose to stay with us and allow us to support them inspire both our team and others.”
Outside of work, Tiffany enjoys spending time with her family and being outdoors. “Outside of work, I love to go hunting and fishing with my family. If we can’t do those things, we like to relax and hang out!”
We are incredibly grateful to Tiffany for her dedication, honesty, and collaborative spirit! Her work continues to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals and families throughout our community.
